You probably got here from a line in a server log. Here's what it was.

Showout is a public events calendar — concerts, art openings, comedy, festivals, readings. To describe an artist or a venue accurately we read a handful of public data APIs, and those APIs ask clients to say who they are. ShowoutBot is what we say.

Where it's used

ShowoutBot identifies us to the public-data APIs whose terms ask for an identifiable client:

• MusicBrainz and ListenBrainz — artist identity, disambiguation, and release history.
• Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia — short biographical summaries and entity identifiers.
• api.weather.gov (US National Weather Service) — forecast conditions for outdoor events.

These are read-only, low-volume requests against documented public endpoints. We don't log in, we don't submit anything, and we don't touch private or rate-limited-by-key surfaces without a key.

What we do with it

It goes into event, artist and venue listings on Showout, with attribution where the source asks for it. We don't train machine-learning models on it and we don't resell it as a dataset.

If you'd rather we didn't

Email hello@showout.ai and say so. A human reads that inbox — the one who built this — and we'll stop reading your service. You don't need to justify the request or send it through anyone. If something we're doing is noisy, miscategorised, or hitting an endpoint you'd rather we didn't, that's worth an email too; it's usually a one-line fix on our end.
