Death Cab for Cutie (commonly abbreviated to DCFC or Death Cab) is an American rock band formed in Bellingham, Washington, in 1997. The band is composed of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nick Harmer (bass), Dave Depper (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Zac Rae (keyboards, guitar), and Jason McGerr (drums).
Benjamin Gibbard (born August 11, 1976) is an American musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, with whom he has recorded eleven studio albums, and as a member of the indie pop supergroup The Postal Service. Gibbard has also released a solo album, Former Lives (2012), and a collaborative studio album, One Fast Move or I'm Gone (2009), with Jay Farrar.
Jason McGerr (born July 19, 1974) is an American musician, best known as the drummer for the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie.
Dave Depper is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer, currently on tour providing guitar, keys, and harmony vocals for Death Cab for Cutie. In addition to DCFC, Dave has performed live and/or recorded with Ray LaMontagne, Fruit Bats, Menomena, Corin Tucker (Sleater-Kinney), Robyn Hitchcock, Laura Gibson, Jolie Holland, Crystal Bowersox, and many, many more.
Zac Rae is an American musician, best known as the keyboardist, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist of the indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, with whom he has recorded three studio albums and two EPs. Rae is a former member of Alanis Morissette's backing band, which he joined in 2001 at the age of 21.
