Canto Ostinato
An evening-length performance of Simeon ten Holt's minimalist work Canto Ostinato, featuring pianist Erik Hall, Sandbox Percussion, and UW School of Music students and faculty in a 17-piece ensemble arrangement commissioned and led by Andrew Cyr. This special arrangement of the Dutch composer's cult-following keyboard piece promises a unique musical experience.

  • Erik Hall is a musician and composer based in southwest Michigan, best known for his multi-instrumental solo recordings and live performances of contemporary classical works. His work bridges indie rock and classical music, with notable recordings including interpretations of minimalist compositions like Canto Ostinato and Music for 18 Musicians.

  • GRAMMY-nominated percussion quartet founded in 2011 by Jonathan Allen, Victor Caccese, Ian Rosenbaum, and Terry Sweeney. Sandbox Percussion champions living composers through unwavering dedication to contemporary chamber music, creating visually and aurally stunning performances that expand the percussion repertoire.

  • GRAMMY-nominated conductor and founder of Metropolis Ensemble, Andrew Cyr is a leading figure in contemporary classical music. Since establishing Metropolis Ensemble in 2006, he has commissioned over 450 works and become a prominent influence in connecting emerging composers and performers with new audiences.
