Christopher Marley, a naturalist-artist who builds intricate compositions from preserved insects, reptiles, and sea life, brings his traveling exhibition Exquisite Creatures to Volunteer Park on Tuesday, August 4. His freeze-dried specimens are arranged into patterns and installations that blur the line between scientific display and visual art—part nature documentary, part gallery show. It's in the historic Olmsted-designed park on Capitol Hill, so you can wander the grounds before or after.

Christopher Marley is an artist, designer, photographer and author who uses preserved natural specimens as his medium. He grew up in Oregon, then spent over a decade working in dozens of countries in fashion advertising. Through his travels across five continents, Marley found that there were still enigmatic organisms and minerals to be discovered in every biome he explored.
