Gary Eldridge Grice, known as GZA and The Genius, is an American rapper and founding member of the Wu-Tang Clan, serving as the group's spiritual head. His lyrical style emphasizes science and philosophy over typical hip-hop themes, and he is recognized as one of hip-hop's greatest MCs with one of the largest vocabularies in the genre.
Phunky Nomads is GZA's live band, formed in 2010 as a backing ensemble that has evolved into a creative unit blending funk, soul, and hip-hop. Led by drummer Ramsey Jones and featuring keyboardist Entrfied McCloud, bassist Djibril Toure, and violinist/rapper Shayshahn MacPherson (PhearNone), the group has performed at major venues including Red Rocks Amphitheater and completed a 30-city European tour in 2024.
