Marcos Valle is the Renaissance man of Brazilian pop, a singer/songwriter/producer who has straddled the music world from the early days of the bossa nova craze well into the fusion-soaked sound of '80s MPB and into the 21st century. His second album, 1965's O Compositor e o Cantor, is widely considered among the era's most important.
Fabiano do Nascimento is a Brazilian-American guitarist, composer, producer, and arranger based in Los Angeles and Tokyo. He performs on various multi-string and multi-tuning guitars. Do Nascimento's compositions incorporate traditions of Afro-samba, folkloric music, and choro, blended with elements of jazz, experimental music, and electronica.
Founded in 2017 by Adrian Younge, Ali Shaheed Muhammad (A Tribe Called Quest), Andrew Lojero, and Adam Block, Jazz Is Dead began as a bold statement—plastered on walls, whispered in headphones, echoed through venues. Not a farewell, but a rallying cry. A tribute to the past and a charge toward the future. A reminder that the spirit of jazz—the innovation, the rebellion, the soul—has never stopped evolving.
