The Grass was forged during the turn of the century, by guitarist Brett Davis and singer/songwriter John Malsberger after meeting in a community college guitar class. They quickly became a band and soon found themselves opening for the likes of Merl Saunders, Keller Williams, Dark Star Orchestra, Tim Reynolds, and even The Yardbirds.
A recording artist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, arranger, mixing engineer and producer, Son Vo has been writing songs for over 30 years. Growing up listening to many styles of music, his writing reflects just that. His biggest influences are classic rock, blues, Americana and country with hints of classic pop and reggae. Son is the bandleader of L.A.
Rodney Newman is a film editor, musician/drummer, composer, sound designer, writer, father, amateur photographer, and outdoorsman. He was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, has dabbled in some Colorado, and thrived for a number of years in Southern Africa.
