Norman Gene Macdonald was a Canadian stand-up comedian, actor, and writer known for his deadpan delivery, eccentric understatement, and folksy humor. He gained fame as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live (1993–1998), where he anchored the Weekend Update segment for three and a half seasons.
