Noveltease Theatre produces contemporary burlesque plays, blending neo-burlesque styling with the theatrical roots of burlesque theatre in the 1880s. Through a combination of text and dance, we seek to embody literature and create shared community around storytelling.
Nerdlesque is fantastical alchemy combining burlesque and sexy, brave, beautiful nerds of all shapes, genders, and sizes. Phasers replace feather boas and D20s replace pastie tassels in this new and exciting trend of modern burlesque. As nerd culture merges with the mainstream, nerdlesque too is evolving the art of burlesque.
Verity Germaine grew up in the theater and sauntered sideways to burlesque over five years ago, where she continues to blur the lines between art forms because genre purity is boring. Seattle's Dirty Darling pulls from jazz age shimmies to glittery pop rock, ancient myth to modern science fiction, to create bewitching, powerful, and sometimes dangerous stories on stage.
