of Montreal is an American indie pop band from Athens, Georgia, founded by frontman Kevin Barnes in 1996 and named after a failed romance. The band is identified as part of the Elephant 6 collective and has evolved considerably throughout its existence, drawing inspiration from 1960s psychedelic pop acts and incorporating elements of electronic pop, funk, and progressive pop.
