Powaqqatsi: Live with The Philip Glass Ensemble
Philip Glass and his ensemble perform live accompaniment to Powaqqatsi, the 1988 film about technology and labor across the globe. It's a rare chance to experience one of minimalism's most influential composers doing what his ensemble was built for: reshaping how you hear his own work in real time. November 7 at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle.

Lineup

  • Philip Glass Ensemble

The Philip Glass Ensemble (PGE) comprises the principal performers of the music of Philip Glass. In 1968, Glass founded the PGE in New York City as a laboratory for his music. Its purpose was to develop a performance practice to meet the unprecedented technical and artistic demands of his compositions.

  • Through his operas, his symphonies, his compositions for his own ensemble, and his wide-ranging collaborations, Philip Glass has had an extraordinary and unprecedented impact upon the musical and intellectual life of his times. The operas – “Einstein on the Beach,” “Satyagraha,” “Akhnaten,” and “The Voyage,” among many others – play throughout the world’s leading houses, and rarely to an empty seat.
