SAM Talks: An Evening with Saya Woolfalk
Artist Saya Woolfalk, who builds elaborate sci-fi worlds populated by genetically fluid beings and hybrid plant-human forms, sits down for a talk at SAM on Thursday, August 27. If you're curious how someone actually constructs these kinds of speculative universes across multiple projects, or just want to hear a New York-based artist explain her work in person, this is the thing to attend.

Lineup

  • Represented by Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects Saya Woolfalk (Japan, 1979) is a New York based artist who uses science fiction and fantasy to re-imagine the world in multiple dimensions. With the multi year projects No Place, The Empathics, and ChimaTEK, Woolfalk has created the world of the Empathics, a fictional race of women who are able to alter their genetic make-up and fuse with plants.
