The Dead South is a folk-bluegrass musical ensemble from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, formed in 2012. Danny Kiranos, known professionally as Amigo the Devil, is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and banjo player from Miami, Florida. His dark folk music, labeled 'murderfolk,' blends American folk, country, rock, and heavy metal with themes of death, murder, and existential darkness, drawing influence from Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, and Chavela Vargas.
