Opening August 19, 2026, Colored Girls for Colored Girls—Evolution of Expression serves as ARTE NOIR's flagship visual arts contribution to the 50th anniversary commemoration of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf, presented in collaboration with the Ntozake Shange Trust. Through exhibitions, performances, literary programs, and community gatherings, this partnership honors the enduring cultural, artistic, and political impact of Shange's groundbreaking choreopoem while celebrating the voices, creativity, and lived experiences of Black women across generations. Black Canvas is ARTE NOIR's monthly editorial magazine. In addition to spotlighting the art and stories shaping culture, each edition highlights one creator, offering a closer look at the inspiration and vision behind their work.Browse all performers
