Hi DJ Baby , great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability. I think risk taking is essential to leveling up your life. You basically have two choices: stay exactly where you are, safe and not entirely satisfied (if in fact you are unhappy with your current situation), or take a big risk in the hopes that you can improve your standing. There isn’t always a definitive outcome when it comes to risk taking, but I can guarantee this, you won’t be stuck in your same predictable position that isn’t working. Even if you do risk it all and it doesn’t workout, at least you can say you are on a new path to improvement from what wasn’t working before. For me, I know a corporate tax job was going to murder my mental health. Yes it was my course of study, yes it was what my whole resume was made up of, but I knew if I stayed on that path I was going to be unhappy. So I risked it all, quit my job, and started over in a completely new field: DJing. It paid off big. I’m doing what I love and I’m making money while I do it. While there were bumps in the road and ups and downs I never quit because it felt right. Without that big risk early in my career I would be living an entirely different life, inauthentic, under-stimulated, and out of alignment. This is where I learned to take risks.
