Crista Van Slyck Matteson’s sculptures speak of her love for wild spaces and deep connection to the PNW. She received a BFA in Textiles from the California College of Art in San Francisco and began her varied art career in Costume Design. Since then, her pursuit of fine art education has been relentless. Having won several merit scholarships, Van Slyck Matteson studied glass, metals, and printing at Pratt Fine Art Center and recently, in 2023 she received the Molyneaux Award from Pratt to study Flameworking. With a merit scholarship in 2015, Van Slyck Matteson studied at the Gage Academy of Fine Art in their Figure Sculpting Atelier program. In 2018 and 2019 she studied at Pilchuck Glass School.
