“Streets, Take 5” is a jazz-infused visual meditation on the soul of Five Points—Denver’s historic Black neighborhood once known as the “Harlem of the West.” Through a series of vivid, rhythmic works, artist Darrell Anderson captures the improvisational energy of the streets he grew up in, paying tribute to the musicians, dancers, storytellers, and everyday people who shaped its tempo. I’m excited to share some uplifting news—this month, I’ve been invited to be a featured merchant at the Snack & Souvenir Expo at The Westin at Denver International Airport! As a Denver native and longtime artist, this is a full-circle moment. The airport is more than just a place of travel—it’s a portal of stories, movement, and meaning. And now, a piece of my story is taking off from right there on Concourse A. You may already know about my public art installation, “To Be Continued,” created as part of the Concourse A Public Art Award and rooted in the themes of my broader body of work, Patterns and Figures, Figures and Patterns. That piece was designed to honor the rhythm of flight—both literal and symbolic—celebrating connection, transition, and the beauty of journeys that unfold in unexpected ways.
