J’Nique Nicole is an American singer-songwriter whose powerful vocals have become a defining voice in the world of video game music. Best known for writing the English lyrics and performing the iconic main theme, “Weight of the World,” for Square Enix’s critically acclaimed NieR: Automata, her work has reached millions of listeners around the globe. With over 10 million copies sold, NieR: Automata remains one of the most celebrated games of its generation, introducing J’Nique’s voice to an international audience. In 2026, J’Nique made history as the first Black original soundtrack video game vocalist to perform at Carnegie Hall, appearing as a featured soloist during the official NieR Orchestra Concert world tour. Her performance marked a milestone not only in her own career, but in the growing recognition of video game music on some of the world’s most prestigious stages. Beyond NieR, J’Nique’s voice can be heard across numerous acclaimed game and anime soundtracks. She performs Elena’s theme, “Beats in My Heart,” in Street Fighter 6, appears on the soundtracks for FOAMSTARS, Gran Saga (composed by Yoko Shimomura), Girls’ Frontline, and the live-action Cowboy Bebop soundtrack, and has also been featured in Kevin Penkin’s anime score for Bye Bye, Earth.
