new music | performance | composition Jared Redmond is a pianist-composer from the San Francisco Bay Area, currently based in Berlin. In performance, he matches historical repertoire, especially underplayed masterworks, with contemporary experimental music. His repertoire stretches from music of the 16th through 21st centuries, and he has appeared as a piano soloist, composer, and improviser throughout North America, Europe, and East Asia. As a composer, Jared’s works deal especially in literary and historical allusion, expressive microtonalism, and increasingly, music for the piano. He also develops experimental compositions and new notation systems for Korean traditional performers. Living in Seoul for nearly a decade, Jared researched traditional Korean aristocratic music and notation, and performed extensively as part of ensemble Geori, which he co-founded and directed, and as pianist in free improvisation duo Beheaded. He also collaborated frequently on installation-performance projects of the IVAAIU City art and architecture collective.
