Jessie Summa Russo is a third-generation artist in West Seattle, as well as the current Director of Gallery 110. Raised in Somerville, Massachusetts, she received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College with a Studio Arts concentration and studied illustration at Massachusetts College of Art & Design. Hired to create digital imagery for a living, Russo never lost the compulsion to make art with her hands. She began a consistent practice in 2015 with a series of collages on vinyl records that made use of her substantial—some might say excessive—collection of paper ephemera. Recently, oil and cold wax finger-painted organic shapes and abstract gel plate monotypes have dominated her mixed media works.
