Her first full-length poetry collection, NIGHT SWIM, won the 2021 Diode Book Prize. She has also published two chapbooks–HOW TO MAKE PANCAKES FOR A DEAD BOY (Small Harbor Publishing) & IF RUST CAN GROW ON THE MOON (Milk & Cake Press). Joan has been a finalist for the Subnivean Award, Frontier Poetry’s “(Not) In Love” Haiku Contest, the Helena Whitehill Award & Poetry Northwest’s Possession Sound Series.
