Matthew Fisher
Born in Croydon, South London on March 7, 1946, Matthew Fisher's musical talent was nurtured from an early age. He had piano lessons beginning at age six. By the time he'd reached his teen years, the family's front room had been taken over by an assortment of musical instruments, including guitars and a Bechstein piano. Matthew briefly attended London's Guildhall School of Music. He loved the music of J.S. Bach and, as a teenager, rode his bicycle around the Surrey countryside visiting churches to make notes on their resident pipe organs. Matthew began his rock and roll musical career as a bass player, but early on he switched to being a Hammond organist (despite not being able to afford a Hammond of his own).Browse all performers
