Patrick McCollum is an award-winning choreographer and intimacy professional whose work spans Broadway, television, film, and opera. He choreographed the Tony Award–winning musical The Band’s Visit on Broadway and has created movement for major productions including Angels in America and Rocky, as well as live television events such as Saturday Night Live. Known for his collaborative approach and nuanced storytelling, Patrick brings the same artistry and care to staging movement as he does to cultivating trust and consent as an intimacy coordinator. Born and raised in Southern California, Patrick began dancing at the age of seven in Orange County. At eighteen, he was named a finalist in the Los Angeles Music Center’s prestigious Spotlight Awards in the non-classical dance category, an honor recognizing exceptional young artists across Southern California. He went on to earn a BFA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach as a Fine Arts Affiliates Scholar, studying under principal dancers from companies including Martha Graham, Bill T. Jones, Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, and Doug Varone. After graduating, Patrick moved to New York City and booked his first theatrical job in Wicked as the dance captain and swing for the Chicago company. A year and a half later, he was appointed North American Dance Supervisor for Wicked, overseeing four companies across the continent. This pivotal role deepened his understanding of the collaborative process and honed his ability to communicate with actors, dancers, directors, designers, and creative teams.
