Public Enemy is an American hip-hop group formed in 1985 by Chuck D and Flavor Flav in Roosevelt, New York. Known for their dense, layered sound and radical political messages addressing American racism and media, they became among the most influential hip-hop artists of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Their landmark albums including 'It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back' (1988) and 'Fear of a Black Planet' (1990) revived messages of the Black Panther Party and Malcolm X, earning them induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.Browse all performers
