Polly Apfelbaum
Polly Apfelbaum (b. 1955) is an American contemporary visual artist best known for her colorful "fallen paintings"—large-scale installations of hand-dyed fabric floor pieces that blur the lines between painting, sculpture, and installation. Working since the 1980s, she combines Abstract Expressionism, Minimalism, and Pop art with vibrant colors, geometric forms, and tactile elements traditionally associated with craft and domesticity. Based in New York City, she has mounted nearly 60 solo exhibitions worldwide and received major grants from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, Joan Mitchell Foundation, and Anonymous Was a Woman.Browse all performers
