Fauxnique

Monique Jenkinson, known as Fauxnique, is a San Francisco-based artist, choreographer, and drag performer who combines contemporary dance and drag to explore gender, identity, and the performance of femininity. Since 2003, she has developed a distinctive practice that merges cabaret and postmodern dance with feminist critique, becoming the first cis-woman to win a major drag queen pageant. Her work has toured nationally and internationally across nightclubs, theaters, and museums, and she is the author of the memoir 'Faux Queen: A Life in Drag' (2022).
