Derrick Adams is a Brooklyn-based visual and performance artist born in Baltimore in 1970 whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, collage, sculpture, performance, video, and sound. His work explores how identity, Black culture, and personal narrative intersect with American iconography and urban culture, employing sophisticated formal techniques that reference pioneers like Henri Matisse and Romare Bearden.
