Bender

Gretchen Bender (1951–2004) was a pioneering American multi-disciplinary artist who interrogated mass media and late twentieth-century capitalism through video, television, and computer-generated graphics. A key figure in 1980s New York's art scene alongside the 'Pictures' generation, she created large-scale installations and electronic theatre works that subverted mainstream media platforms, including music videos for REM and New Order.
