Malcolm M. Roberts

Malcolm M. Roberts (1913-1990) was a Seattle-based surrealist painter inspired by European masters Salvador Dali and Giorgio de Chirico. Known as Seattle's first Surrealist, he created oil paintings, gouache works, and lithographs that incorporated elements of the Pacific Northwest landscape into surreal compositions, and later evolved his style influenced by Mark Tobey and Morris Graves. He also worked in stage and costume design at Cornish College of the Arts and became a successful interior designer.
