Elissa Washuta

Elissa Washuta is a Native American nonfiction writer and member of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe from Washington State. She is the author of White Magic, My Body Is a Book of Rules, and Starvation Mode, exploring themes of identity, trauma, and Indigenous experience. A recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship and Artist Trust Arts Innovator Award, she teaches creative writing and serves as co-editor of the anthology Shapes of Native Nonfiction.
