Akio Takamori

Akio Takamori (1950–2017) was a Japanese-American ceramic sculptor and educator known for coil-built figurative sculptures that incorporated narrative painting and human forms. His work explored themes of cultural identity by engaging Eastern and Western aesthetics, and he spent nearly four decades examining the psychological drama of human relationships through hand-painted ceramic vessels and larger-than-life public art commissions.
