Danny Barnes is an American banjo player, singer, and composer born in Temple, Texas, whose music blends country, jazz, blues, punk, and metal influences. He was a founding member of the Austin trio the Bad Livers (1990-2000) and has since established himself as a solo artist and collaborator with musicians like Bill Frisell and Dave Matthews, winning the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo in 2015. Known for his innovative "folktronics" approach that combines analog and digital sounds, Barnes is widely acknowledged as one of the best banjo players in America.
