Dorothy McGuinness
Dorothy McGuinness is a contemporary basket artist born in 1961 in Western Washington who has mastered the art of diagonal twill and mad weave techniques using watercolor paper as her primary medium. Since taking her first basket making class in 1987 and discovering her signature medium in 2000, she has participated in over 200 basket workshops and studied extensively with Japanese basket maker Jiro Yonezawa. Her sculptural basketry work challenges traditional perceptions of basketry as a functional craft, creating innovative forms and structures recognized through awards including the 2018 GAP Award from Artist Trust.Browse all performers
