Glen Alps
Glen Alps (1914-1996) was an American printmaker and educator credited with developing the collagraph technique, which he coined the term for in 1956. Based in Seattle, he was a pioneering figure in 20th-century printmaking who served as a professor and founder of the Printmaking Department at the University of Washington, where he taught from 1947 until his retirement in 1984. His work evolved from American Regionalism toward abstraction, featuring his signature motif of circles within squares across lithography, screenprinting, etching, and experimental techniques including vitreographs.Browse all performers
