Marius Petipa
Marius Petipa (1818–1910) was a French-Russian ballet dancer, pedagogue, and choreographer considered one of the most influential ballet masters in history. He spent nearly 60 years at the St. Petersburg Imperial Mariinsky Theatre, where he created over 50 original ballets including The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, and La Bayadère, establishing the foundations of classical Russian ballet. Often called the "Father of Classical Ballet," his works and revivals of other choreographers' pieces remain cornerstones of the classical ballet repertory.Browse all performers
