Seckou Keita
Seckou Keita is a Senegalese kora player, drummer, and composer born in 1978 in Ziguinchor. Nicknamed 'the Hendrix of the Kora,' he is one of the leaders of the newest generation of African traditional musicians, known for his innovative kora tunings and virtuosity while fusing traditional West African music with contemporary genres including jazz, folk, and world music. Since launching his international career in 1996, he has collaborated with acclaimed artists including Catrin Finch, Omar Sosa, and Damon Albarn, earning multiple Songlines Music Awards and BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.Browse all performers
