Richard Linklater is an American filmmaker born in Houston, Texas in 1960, known for films exploring suburban culture and the passage of time through loosely structured narratives. His acclaimed works include the Before trilogy, Boyhood, Slacker, Dazed and Confused, and School of Rock, and he has received five Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award. He is recognized as a key figure in the independent film movement and was named to Time's 100 most influential people in 2015.
