Rising Waters Collective: disPLACE (North American premiere)

Rising Waters Collective brings the North American premiere of disPLACE, a chamber opera by Spanish composer Raquel García-Tomás (winner of Spain's National Music Prize), to Theatre Off Jackson on August 22nd. If you're curious about contemporary opera that takes risks with form, this is a rare chance to catch it early in its North American run at an intimate 140-seat venue in the International District.

Raquel García-Tomás
Raquel García-Tomás is a composer specialising in interdisciplinary creation who completed her doctorate at the Royal College of Music in London. In 2020, she was awarded the National Music Prize by the Government of Spain, and more recently she received the 2024 National Culture Prize from the Government of Catalonia.
