Daniel Tam-Claiborne is a multiracial writer, multimedia producer, and nonprofit director. His debut novel, Transplants (Simon & Schuster, 2025), was the winner of the CALA Best Book Award and the NIEA Juror's Choice Award and a finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction. He is the author of the short story collection What Never Leaves, and his writing has appeared in Michigan Quarterly Review, HuffPost, Catapult, Literary Hub, Off Assignment, The Rumpus, and elsewhere. A 2022 National Endowment for the Arts Literature Fellow, he has also received awards and fellowships from the U.S. Fulbright Program, Poets & Writers, Bread Loaf, Sewanee Writers’ Conference, Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, and others. Daniel is an award-winning producer for two public media initiatives at WNET, America’s flagship PBS station, including the digital documentary series be/longing: Asian Americans Now, Between Black & White: Asian Americans Speak Out, Voices Rising: What’s Next for Asian Americans in the Arts, and Climate Artists. A frequent speaker, moderator, and host, Daniel develops and executes public programming that examines urgent issues, promotes meaningful dialogue, and advances social justice. He has curated community programs, screenings, and other events in partnership with cultural spaces, universities, arts nonprofits, and advocacy organizations across the country.
