Born and raised on a working farm in the remote logging community of Montesano, Washington, James’s early life was defined by a strong work ethic and a deep connection to roots music. That ingrained authenticity ultimately became the hallmark of his songwriting. In 2005, driven by a lifelong pursuit of the craft of songwriting, James relocated to Nashville, Tennessee. He quickly caught the attention of Music Row, signing as a songwriter with the Surefire Music Company. His tenure in Nashville validated him as an elite, versatile storyteller, earning him critical industry recognition, including a CCMA nomination for Single of the Year and a Gospel Single of the Year nomination for his acclaimed track, "Angel at the Crossroads."
