LOZEN

Lozen isn’t much for boxes—because “magic happens outside of your comfort zone.” The bilingual Québécoise and now BC-based singer-songwriter-rapper-bandleader defies categorization through a genre-bending range that spans from trippy R&B and progressive hip hop soundscapes to soulful jazz-infused ballads and dirty electronic bass. With evocative vocals and emotionally honest lyrics, Lozen’s sound is as bold as it is vulnerable—think Jessie Reyez and Lauryn Hill with a dose of Erykah Badu. A seasoned impresario both on and off stage, Lozen wears many hats in the music industry. She’s a CHR/Top 40 format radio host, music director and multi-disciplinary artist known for bridging underground culture with mainstream audiences. Grounded in early experiences with cyphers, jams, and raves, her versatility as an emcee, stripped-down acoustic performer, and lead EDM vocalist has led to a dynamic performance history—opening for hip-hop icons like De La Soul, The Beatnuts, Blackalicious, Classified, and Maestro Fresh Wes, as well as electronic headliners Phibes, Stickybuds and The Funk Hunters—showcasing her crossover range. With her upcoming full-length album Soul Path, Lozen returns to her songwriting roots: “Before I even got down with rap, I’d write songs on my guitar.” The project marks her first public step into the producer’s chair—claiming the creative authority she’s long held quietly behind the scenes. This milestone is a defining and empowering leap that speaks to her personal evolution and the broader push for visibility of women behind the boards. Co-created with JUNO, SOCAN, ASCAP, and MuchMusic Award-winning beatmaker DJ Kemo, and brought to life with multi-JUNO Award-winning engineer Roger Swan (Kardinal Offishall, Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes), the record draws on Lozen’s deep connection to mysticism, esoteric philosophy, and storytelling.
