Fred Armisen is an American comedian, actor, musician, and television writer born December 4, 1966, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He began his career as a musician in the Chicago-based post-punk band Trenchmouth and the Blue Man Group before transitioning to comedy, becoming best known for his work on Saturday Night Live (2002-2013), co-creating the sketch series Portlandia, and serving as bandleader for the Late Night with Seth Meyers 8G Band.
